Cow and the Moon

After reading a review in this week’s Good Living from the SMH, I hot-footed it to Cow and the Moon in Enmore, for some artisan gelato! Winning eight medals at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, including the prize for Champion Gelato, that was awarded to their “lime in coconut” gelato, an immediate pilgrimage to Cow and the Moon seemed absolutely necessary.
Being winter, I didn’t feel tropical, so did not try the flavour that is lauded above all others, but I did try a mouthful of the rather interesting red peppers, raspberry and chilli. It was delicious, but I felt like something sweet. I had been fantasizing about this ice cream all day, and the combination needed to be perfect… That’s when I found Merango Tango (a sweet, creamy base filled with chunks of soft meringue)… but what to pair with this edible interpretation of a cloud? Chocolate. You can tell the excellence of any ice creamery by their chocolate. Oh. My. Goodness. It. Was. Sensational. Like. Silk. So. Smooth. So. So. Damn. Good. It was indeed the perfect combination. I cannot wait to explore the rest of their flavours. Do yourself a favour and go there now. NOW!

I didn’t have a coffee here but the single origin coffee is a hit with the locals, and by the look of the piccolo latte my friend ordered, it is easy to see why.

I take my hat off to you John Crowl, for your excellent, amazing, super-dooper, tremendous, silky, velvety, sensual, achingly smooth gelato.
