Adriano Zumbo and his macarons shot to fame through television’s Masterchef. I tried them a year or so ago, and was bitterly disappointed, so much so that I had to spit one out. I was in Balmain on Thursday and curiosity bit once again, and I tried them again. Maybe I just had bad luck last time? Hmmmmm. We tried rice pudding. No. Pancakes and Maple syrup; didn’t really taste like either and Smarties, which did not taste of Smarties but just tasted sweet. I cannot see what all the fuss is about! Yes, his shop is lovely with fancy sweets to seduce the eye at every turn, but I just don’t find things taste that spectacular. I think I could make a better macaroon… So I have bought a new recipe book Secrets of Macarons and am willing to put my money where my mouth is… This weekend is macaron weekend. Stay tuned…
