Having a craving for all things Middle Eastern and delicious of late, Elizabeth, Baby Maggie and I made the journey to Abla’s Pastries in Granville today. This is the mother of all Arabian sweet shops. Spoilt for choice, my eyes bulging no matter which direction I looked, I opted for this amazing pistachio and meringue number. I could barely get through half of it, as it was the size of a single mattress, an amazingly comfortable, succulent mattress. I did not get the name of this delight, so if anyone knows, please tell me.
Elizabeth, having been here before, knew what she wanted. After describing it to the shop assistant, we learned it is called Kunafa. It was so soft and syrupy.
Again, like last night, I got some baclava for the road. It did not last long. Smile.
