So, a mere three days later from our first visit to Kitchen by Mike, Mum and I returned for a second helping of all that canteen goodness.
Mum had the wood-fired sprouts with caviar lentils. I have only recently learnt how delicious sprouts are, and the addition of wood-fire is a sure asset to any dish. The pulled pork and cabbage roll was moist and full of flavour.
I had the roast chicken with za’atar, lemon and pinenuts: a huge chunk of juicy chicken rubbed in a blend of herbs, sesame seeds and salt. I paired this with the couscous and pomegranate salad. The colours were gorgeous and pomegranate gave the dish lovely bursts of sweetness.
Alas, I was too full for dessert this time as the portion of chicken was so generous. Getting fed for under $20 a head with this calibre of fresh food is such a privilege and makes me proud to live in such an up and coming culinary hub.
