In between all of the fine dining of last weekend, there was a quick stop for lunch with the boys (not my boys, someone else’s) at The Merrywell, a new gastro-pub. Situated on the chocolate Yarra at Southbank, The Merrywell is a bright, clean bar and burger kind of place. It would be rather pleasant in summer and is rather pleasant today, despite the winter gloom.
I find a new friend in a glass of White Rabbit, White Ale. A spicy and delicate brew, it hits the spot labelled “beer” in my tummy flawlessly. I’m still full from Cumulus Inc. so I only have a couple of bites of burger, but it is a good burger. A fresh, meaty, pink, burgery burger. Not as good as Stitch in Sydney, as they have the world’s best burger, but a damn fine burger none the less.
I’ve just found out they have a Merryhour special everyday between 4-6pm where you get a burger and a pint for $15. Methinks this is an excellent idea post-rehearsal this Saturday…
