Not having been to The Grounds of Alexandria for almost a year, not since it was fresh and sparkly, I see that the rest of Sydney has discovered it. Woah. It was a sunny Sunday arvo and the joint is utter mayhem. But I’d come with a mission – to eat their burger – and I was not going to back down, no matter how many children, slack-jawed gawkers or patrons with those heinously loud laughs there were.
Recommended to me by another burger aficionado (who claims to be part American and therefore was born with a burger in his fist) I knew this was going to be a serious burger. It was. The dry-aged Angus pattie is soft and succulent, swimming in sauce and the flavour is remisncent of posh Big Mac sauce, only with more dill. This burger left a lovely film of grease on your lips. The bun is not overly sweet which is a good thing and although there is not much smoke or char, this burger stands on its own juicy feet without. The worst part about this burger was the fact that I decided to split it with my mother. #foolishgirl
