Camel Burgers

After being on a bit of a bender, eating any animal I can find, you can imagine the squeal I gave when I found camel patties in the supermarket the other day. That was going to make four unique and rare animals to eat in one week for me.

I decided to go Middle Eastern in theme, you know, camels, desert, etc and fried up the patties with a bit of ground cumin, smoky paprika and garnished with homemade hummus, chargrilled capsicum and eggplant.

I thought it was hilarious for some reason –
“I’m gonna have a camel burger!”, I would exclaim.

Camel is not good. It tastes dirty. I am not sure if it’s because these patties came pre-formed and had some fillers in there (rice cereals etc) or whether the camel itself is an unsavoury critter. I put it out on Facebook (the authority on everything) and apparently other people’s camel experiences were not looked on favourably.

Try it though, just once. And you’ll see just how dirty and chewy it is. Humph.
