Having waxed lyrical about The Grey Horse and their stellar rib line up, how could my Partner in Crime and I refuse their Tuesday night deal of a burger, fries and a Beavertown for £10? A can of Beavertown alone would set you back at least a fiver at any London pub, so this is an amazing deal.
We expected big things from the burger, and it did not disappoint. With the high quality of the meat apparent, the patty was juicy and flavoursome and had a nice amount of char and smoke through it. The cheese is verging on liquid and the salty smack of the bacon is delicious. Bun-wise it’s light and fluffy so that gets a tick. Honestly, I was so hungry and the anticipation was rife that I don’t remember much else – it was inhaled.
The fries are rustic with bits of skin still on. And to wash this all down with a Gamma Ray (tropical notes with plenty of hop) or a Smog Rocket (smoky porter with caramel notes) is a delight. If you’re a beer fan and unfamiliar with Beavertown, go out and get some immediately.
Having indulged in this deal for a second time last week, my Partner in Crime said the burger was even better! Drool.
