Grand Marnier is delicious. Having been trotted about at Christmas in the crème anglaise for the chocolate panettone, it’s easy to let it sit there on the shelf and be overshadowed by the gins and whiskeys. With its rich orange depth of flavour, I knew it would go well with gin as it has backbone and wouldn’t be overpowered. This drink is refreshing and although it was a freezing and wet winter’s day, I can imagine it being the perfect thing to sip poolside.
If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can dry out slices of citrus in the oven on a low heat.
Ingredients
- 30ml Grand Marnier
- 20ml London dry gin
- 50ml Fevertree tonic (my favourite)
- dehydrated lemon wheel to garnish
- thyme sprigs to garnish
Method
- This drink suits a short glass more than a tall, so choose your glass wisely. Fill with ice (always make sure your ice is fresh and high quality as ice makes or kills a drink) and then pour in the Grand Marnier and gin. Stir gently to mix and then top with tonic.
- Garnish the drink with the dehydrated lemon wheel and thyme sprigs.
